TX1000 Update: HP SUCKS!

by Sameera 20. May 2008 19:42

Guess what, my Broadcom Wireless Adapter just died. And having read this, I'm not going to even bother with taking this for repair. Mine has the exact same symptoms. The TabPC is still under warranty. But, I'm not putting myself through the painful experiences of the last two months again.

UPDATE (July 27, 2008):

Three months down the road with a replacement mobo, and the TX1000 is dead again. Thanks HP! I'll be looking for a Dell now..

Found this cool photo on DA... Wish I could muster up the courage to do this. Sad

Update (July 26th, 2009)

Would you believe it?? Last year, I did get a mobo replacement from the local agent. That would be the 3rd mobo that graced the inside of my Tx. And sure enough, 1 year has gone and the Wireless adapter is dead again. For the time being, it's stil booting up. But, the machine is plauged with blue screens of death. So, it is slowly dying..

Of course, there seems to be a fix which requires opening up the laptop and doing some careful soldering. I'm not sure, I'm comfortable doing that. Maybe when it dies for good I'll talk a repairman into doing it.

Also going to join the FB group of the unlucky TX owners.

Hi,
Thanks for bringing all those links together. I'm running on my 2nd replacement mobo right now. Let's see how long this would hold up.

Mine is now dead. Woke up after Halloween without a laptop.
It's all down to the nVidia crap on board.

Die! nVidia die!

Wasn't sure if you had this link or not. It is for the current hp class action on the ZD800 models.  I had a ZD7000 with the graphic lines problem. 1st lawsuit fixed it for a month. Then it happened again and when I called HP I was hung up on. Needless to say that I won't even buy hp paper now, let alone anything else. Unfortunately, my model is not included and was considered settled at the 1st lawsuit. What a joke that was. However, I feel for everyone else and am posting this link everywhere. Call it a vendetta but, I'm getting my 2 grand back from them one way or another. Please help me get the word out.

Thanks,
TM Scopel

No prob...
I find it amazing that HP is still denying the defect. I have a personal vendetta against them at this point. With the amount of bad press they are getting all over the net, you can imagine that there are a good number of consumers that have decided not to buy HP. Every time someone reads up on HP's reputation and chooses another brand, it probably costs them a good $500 in wholesale profit... let alone the distributors losses. Multiply that by a few thousand lost customers and... you do the math. It would've been a bit simpler to just step up to the plate and refund the money. Go figure! Perhaps they could learn something from Toyota and Honda... make a defective product and recall it before it sinks the company.

I found this link in my research... NVidia's CEO admitting to the defect.

Thanks for designing the site.

I know exactly how you feel. I too am outraged about this whole experience. Quite coincidentally, my 3rd replacement mobo died last week with the exact same issue. I'm trying to see if the local agent will replace it again. But, I don't think they'll do it once again. This was bought directly from HP online. And, I should be happy that the agent replaced the mobo so many times while HP support had done nothing but deny the defect.

I actually have a lot of love for the tablet/slate form. And would have bought the HP Slate if it hadn't been for this experience. Now, I'm waiting eagerly to see a slate from another manufacturer (Asus perhaps). HP Slate is dead to me even before it's released.

Normally, I would just accept my losses and go buy another brand and forget about it but, after dealing with HP "Total Care" and having them totally brush me off, I just can't let it rest. I just checked out the new HP Tablet reviews on youtube and its the same bloody thing as when the TX1000 came out. Everybody is raving about it and how quickly they intend on going out and buying one. ARRRRGGGGGGHHHH! I left so many comments on the vids that youtube thought I was spamming them and started asking for codes. Also got tipped off to this article about China blowing the whistle on defective HP's www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2361589,00.asp how is it possible that this much attention is being brought on HP and nobody is suing their asses off? I swear that the day a class action is initiated, I will personally fly out to testify in person. Can't believe they are getting away with it. Think I'm going to park my truck in front of Future Shop and paste it full of anti-HP slogans until the manager comes out and gives me a refund to leave him alone.
